Call for Research Participants: Have You Received Bariatric Surgery in Canada Five or More Years Ago?

Poster for recruiting research participants who had bariatric surgery in Canada

We are looking for research participants to discuss their experiences having had bariatric surgery in Canada, and to engage in a virtual art-making workshop exploring these experiences.

You are eligible to participate if you:

  • Have underwent any type of bariatric surgery in Canada five or more years ago;

  • Reside anywhere in Canada;

  • Have access to a computer/phone/tablet and internet during the course of the project;

  • Are able to engage in a brief one-on-one interview via Zoom, conducted in English;

  • Are willing and able to participate in four virtual group sessions to create a Body Map;

  • Are willing and/or able to receive materials from the researcher via Canada Post, FedEx, or contactless drop-off (if the participant lives within one hour of the researcher); and

  • Are willing and able to participate in an audio-recorded sharing session with the researcher and other participants at the end of each group session.

No previous art-making experience is necessary, as you will be guided through the entire process by the research co-facilitators. However, people with art experience are also welcome to join!

We welcome and encourage women, people from the 2SLGBTQ+ community, people with disabilities or differences, people with chronic illnesses, people of various ages, races, and more to participate in this project. Please contact the Student Co-Investigator and PhD Candidate, Meredith Bessey, if you have any questions regarding participating, or would like to express your interest. Meredith is happy to discuss further!
